I just came across this new site, NOWNESS, and it’s pretty enthralling. They describe themselves as:
“… the digital leader in luxury storytelling. Each day, NOWNESS showcases an exclusive premiere of the most inspiring stories influencing contemporary culture and global lifestyle, previewing the latest in fashion, gastronomy, art, film, music, design, travel and sport.
NOWNESS collaborates with the world’s foremost designers, creatives and thinkers in the luxury industry. NOWNESS is an innovative space where ideas, both timeless and timely, are first and foremost.”
You should definitely take some time and check out their site, but first you should watch the video they did about the Spring/Summer 2012 McQueen collection. In it, Cathy Horyn (New York Times fashion critic) chats with Sarah Burton at the label’s Paris atelier about the house’s marine-inspired collection.
I couldn’t figure out how to embed the video here, so (after checking out some of my fav screenshots of the video below) click on over to here and bless your eyes and ears!
If you follow me on twitter, you know that last month I helped out at a photo shoot for local designer gr.dano, who I am currently interning for. It was a total blast! A couple of the other interns and I were there to make sure things ran as smoothly as possible. I mainly helped out with the outfit changes, making sure that everything was ready and waiting when it needed to be. These are a few snapshots that I snuck in here and there when I could!
The Fall 2011 collection will be available at the 440 Brannan Store and Studio later this year. To tide you over until then you can checkout a few of the looks below, and the rest of the collection here! Also, read some other write-ups on Refinery29 and SF Indie Fashion.
I’ve never been a big fan of my birthstone, the opal, which is why I think I’ve always been averse to stone jewelry. One of my sister’s was born in July, which makes her birthstone the ruby, and I was always jealous of her when we were younger. I wanted to be able to wear that beautiful red stone more than anything in the world. I always felt like she had some kind of ownership over it, for no other reason than she happened to be born when she was, which meant that I could never wear it. While I no longer have the desire to wear rubies, I have started to have an affinity for other stones. I love the fact that they are natural and so beautiful at the same time. It is a rare thing in this world to have both of those qualities.
Snoozer Loser is a shop that has a great selection of stones, as well as lots of other items. Below are a few necklaces that I fell in love with, but you should really check out their shop for yourself because they have many other things to offer!
What a great deal for such a beautiful necklace!
Quartz Pendant: $25.
The cross-section of this one is to die for!
Amethyst Cylinder Pendant: $54.
It’s been far too long since I’ve posted my eBay watch list, which has been my only regular posting. It was completely interrupted when I went to Canada, and then my schedule was off and I couldn’t get in back in sync with writing up a new post and the endings of the auctions. Finally though I’ve found a good time, and I think I like Monday postings for this better than Thursdays, which is what I was doing. I also consolidated the images so the post wasn’t a mile long like they have been in the past. I’m gonna try it for a while and feel it out. Anyway, I’ll get to the important stuff… here’s what I’m watching on eBay this week!
Americana Top. Neutral Circle Dress. Polka Dot Tank Romper.
Sheer Pink Blouse. B&W Polka Dot Romper. Floral Mini Dress.
I have approximately 6 weeks left in Austin (not counting the time I’ll be in San Francisco looking for a place to live). I’m still on the hunt for keepsakes that will remind me of Texas while I am away. So far the only thing that I’ve gotten is a tiny silver cowboy boot necklace. It’s absolutely adorable and I love it, but it’s not nearly enough to fill the giant hole that moving away from this giant state is going to leave in my heart (too cheesy?). I haven’t found the number one thing on my list, a pair of vintage cowboy boots, but I still have hope! Thanks to a bunch of great sellers on etsy I have a few more things that I would love to take with me.
Pinata, Pinata Print.
