Madewell in SF! (Oh, and I was blogged!)

I can now die and go to heaven. Why you ask? Well, Earlier this week (my favorite store EVER) Madewell opened it’s doors here in San Francisco!! They threw an opening party on Thursday night and it was tons of fun. There were so many stylin’ dudes and ladies there it was insane (which made it very hard to get to the open bar in the back, but my friends and I made it. phew!) I can’t wait to go back and get a better look at everything.

During the party a photo was snapped of me by Stylenik. They posted it, with some other great pics they took at the party. You can check mine out below, and the others here!

I’m wearing a BDG top and ecote belt from Urban Outfitters, vintage Diane Von Furstenberg skirt, asos tights, Me Too shoes from DSW, and necklaces from Nordstroms.

Thanks Stylenik!!

I Love Black Booties. (no pun intended.)

Recently I’ve come to realize I’m addicted to black boots and booties. Totally, Absolutely, and Completely. I cannot get enough, and I doubt my need for them will ever be satisfied. I own at least 7 pairs (that I can remember off the top of my head), and I am constantly lusting and drooling after ones that I don’t have. I’m sure you’ll get the gist of what I’m saying once I start posting outfit dailies!! (Get excited because it’s gonna be soon!! [fingers crossed])

Anyway, here are some super cute black booties that I’m currently lusting over. (I realize that not all of these technically fall into the “booties” category, but for the sake of the post… just go with it.)

All I Want for Christmas is You. (and a few other things.)

Once again, it’s been quite a while since I’ve blogged. I don’t really have an excuse, all I can say is that the combination of grad school, Thanksgiving, and getting sick all contributed to the lack of posts. Finals end in about a week, and I’m planning on posting more regularly over winter break. This is gonna be a quick one, because I need to start working on my my final project for Fashion Illustration. I’m going to draw these images in my own style, then I will choose my favorite one and lightbox that drawing onto some fabric, and when all that’s said and done I’m going to hand embroider the dress of the fabric drawing.

The one on the left is from the  Alexander McQueen Spring ’09 collection and the one on the right is from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring ’10 collection. It’s going to be a lot of work, but it’ll definitely be worth it. I’m going to be posting pictures of it, as well as some of my other design projects after the semester ends, so stay tuned.

Oh also, if you’re interested I’ve added a new link to the LOST and FIND ME page up at the top. It’s a link to my last.fm profile. Before you check it out I want to preface the top artists and songs in my library by saying that I signed up for last.fm quite a long time ago, and then stopped using it for a couple of years… but now I’m back and scrobbling new tunes!

I’ve put together a quick Christmas wish-list for you all to peruse. It was my first time using Polyvore. I had a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to use it more in the future! I would absolutely love everything/anything on the list (obvi), but if I had to choose I’d say that the #1 thing would probably be the Madewell high-riser jeans. I’m so over low-rise/hip-hugger style… it’s not even funny. You all might think I’m crazy now, but just wait and see because the natural waist look is coming back (thank goodness!!).

Okay, I’ve officially spent way too much time avoiding school work… so I’m just going to say enjoy!

The cold San Francisco weather is definitely affecting my eBay watchlist already. The majority of what I chose this week are coats, jackets, and sweaters. I’ve never been one who enjoys the winter and layering up so much that you look like a shapeless marshmallow. I have always preferred summer and pretty lightweight dresses and skirts. Oh well, that was my past life in Austin and I must look forward and build up my wardrobe accordingly. Although I’ve never been one for practicality when it comes to my fashion choices, I absolutely hate being cold… so practical (and fashionable) I must become (to some degree at least).

Here’s my watchlist for the week!

Funkin Junkie.

Camel Biker Jacket. Distressed Denim & Leather Jacket. Camel Suede Fringe Jacket.

Yellow Oversized Collar Coat. Black Cropped Tuxedo Jacket. Camel Belted Coat.

Layered Crochet Top. Nude Polka Dot Sweater. Black Harem Romper.

You Snoozer, You Loser.

I’ve never been a big fan of my birthstone, the opal, which is why I think I’ve always been averse to stone jewelry. One of my sister’s was born in July, which makes her birthstone the ruby, and I was always jealous of her when we were younger. I wanted to be able to wear that beautiful red stone more than anything in the world. I always felt like she had some kind of ownership over it, for no other reason than she happened to be born when she was, which meant that I could never wear it. While I no longer have the desire to wear rubies, I have started to have an affinity for other stones. I love the fact that they are natural and so beautiful at the same time. It is a rare thing in this world to have both of those qualities.

Snoozer Loser is a shop that has a great selection of stones, as well as lots of other items. Below are a few necklaces that I fell in love with, but you should really check out their shop for yourself because they have many other things to offer!

What a great deal for such a beautiful necklace!

Quartz Pendant: $25.

The cross-section of this one is to die for!

Amethyst Cylinder Pendant: $54.

eBay eBayBay. Ending on or Before 7.6.10.

It’s been far too long since I’ve posted my eBay watch list, which has been my only regular posting. It was completely interrupted when I went to Canada, and then my schedule was off and I couldn’t get in back in sync with writing up a new post and the endings of the auctions. Finally though I’ve found a good time, and I think I like Monday postings for this better than Thursdays, which is what I was doing. I also consolidated the images so the post wasn’t a mile long like they have been in the past. I’m gonna try it for a while and feel it out. Anyway, I’ll get to the important stuff… here’s what I’m watching on eBay this week!

Funkin Junkie.

Americana Top. Neutral Circle Dress. Polka Dot Tank Romper.

Sheer Pink Blouse. B&W Polka Dot Romper. Floral Mini Dress.

Before I Leave Texas. Vol 2.

I have approximately 6 weeks left in Austin (not counting the time I’ll be in San Francisco looking for a place to live). I’m still on the hunt for keepsakes that will remind me of Texas while I am away. So far the only thing that I’ve gotten is a tiny silver cowboy boot necklace. It’s absolutely adorable and I love it, but it’s not nearly enough to fill the giant hole that moving away from this giant state is going to leave in my heart (too cheesy?). I haven’t found the number one thing on my list, a pair of vintage cowboy boots, but I still have hope! Thanks to a bunch of great sellers on etsy I have a few more things that I would love to take with me.

Pinata, Pinata Print.

Renegade Craft Fair: What I Bought.

Earlier this month I posted about VERAMEAT, a kick-ass jewelry designer that was at the Renegade Craft Fair. I didn’t buy anything from her but I did get a couple of other fun things. The first is a beaded headband from Heart Felt.  In my experience most cute hair accessories are black, which unfortunately don’t really work with my dark hair, so obviously when I saw this one it had to be mine! I love the little silver flower thingies!
